Location
Located to the southwest of Kashgar, Xinjiang
Uyghur
Autonomous region. It is 75 kilometers away from the
Kashgar city. It has Maralbishi county to the east, Shule to the
west, Yopurga to the south, Tianshan Mountain to the
north, South Kelpin to the
northwest.
Origin
From the West Han Period it belonged to the "Shule"
kingdom in the "Four Towns of Anxi", then it was
under the charge of "Hui"
Kingdom, "Karahan"
Kingdom, "Chagatai"
Kingdom, etc.
In July, 1902, Peyziwat County was established
and the name was used ever since.
Administrative Division
It has jurisdiction over 11 villages, 296 rural
residents' committees and 8 city
residents' committees.
Population and Territory
By the end of 2003, in its territory of 6,715.4
kilometers its population totaled 314,251, among
which the agricultural population was 285,662,
taking 91 percent of the total population.
Natural Characteristics
The average elevation is 1,208.6 meters, the county
is formed from the downstream aggraded flood plain
of the lower reaches of Kashgar
river, there are 608,600 mou
farmland, 3,613,000 mou
arable land, 1,250,000 mou
grassland, and 3,613,000 mou
of available grassland.
The climate belongs to the dry continental climate,
the annual amount of precipitation is 54 mm, the
annual mean temperature of
the air is 11.7 ℃s and the non-frost period is 233
days. There is a great difference
day and night.
Natural Resources
Agricultural products is abundant, the major
products are melons, apricot, plum, fennel,safflower, licorice, sheep and
cow. It was known as "Home of Melon" and
"Home of Apricot".
In northern mountain area there is a large amount of
copper, lead, and gypsum; the
groundwater resources is also abundant, both of
which have been exploited.

In,2003, GDP of the county amounted to
888,000,000 Yuan RMB, the industry production value
totaled 30,000,000 Yuan RMB, agriculture production
value totaled 551800000 Yuan RMB
the per capita net income of farmers is 1,333
Yuan RMB.
Agriculture
By the end of 2003, the county has 607,400 mou
arable area, 2.13 mou per
capita, the total grain output attains
169,000 tons.
High-quality grain, cotton, nuisance less melon,
apricot, plum producing bases have been set up.
Industry
There are 17 industry enterprises, the initial
industry network dominated by grain processing,
building material, packing,
mining have been formed.
Finance and Tax Income
The county completed the public finance income
of 19,700,000 Yuan RMB in 2003, local tax revenue
9,007,000 Yuan RMB ,
national tax revenue 3,488,900 Yuan RMB.
The extra deposit of the financing institutions
amounted to 506,000,000 Yuan RMB, among them: urban
and rural residents' deposit was 30,700,000,000 Yuan
RMB.

completed a total retail sales volume of social
customer goods of
75,590,000 Yuan RMB, and the value added in the
tertiary industry 271,720,000 Yuan RMB.which are
been explioting.
In 2003, Peyziwat county drew in investment of
103,000,000 Yuan RMB.

By the end of 2003, there were 2,628 registered
nonstate-owned enterprises with registered capital
of 22,930,000 Yuan RMB and
created a tax revenue of 4,480,000 Yuan RMB.
Transportation and Communication
Traffic is easy and quick, national highway 314,
regional highway 213 and the South Xinjing railway
run through the
county, every hundred square meters have 28.34
kilometers of public road.
There are 10,000 SPC telephone customers, all of
which can enjoy the SPC telephone exchange
service; and the mobile
telephone customer attained 5500, the telephone
coverage amounted to 20 for every hundred persons.
City and Country Construction
City construction keeps speeding up. By 2003, newly
built area was 100,000 square meters, 2 squares with
an total area of 86,000 squares meters were
built, the green belt is 88,900 squares
meters, the living condition of the urban citizens
has been greatly improved and the
average urban resident has a housing area of 13
square meters and the average rural resident has a
housing area of 8.9 square meters.
Water Conservancy and Electric Power
Water resources come from precipitation and slush is
abundant. There is one natural river, belonging to
the Kashgar water system
river, 4 canal with a total length of more than 200
kilometers.
There are 197 motor-pumped well with an annual
exploitation amount of 39,500,000 cubic meters.Power lines spread densely, charges are same in both

There are cultural institutions such as
performance groups, culture centre, public library,
one TV station, one broadcasting station
and 2 film-projecting teams.
There are 143 schools with 75,311 students in
school, the pupil' enrollment rate is 99.8%, the
junior high school students' enrollment rate is
86.7%. The rate of illiteracy elimination is 94.45%.
In 2003, 227 students went into the college, the
enrollment rate is 74.2%.
Athletics and Hygiene
In 2003, athletes from our county got 2 gold, 3
silver and 10 bronze medals in traditional sports
classic and international wrestling.
In 2002, it was granted "county of athletic".
There are 16 medical institutions with 440 medical
workers, among which 246 are doctors,150 are nurses
and 550 hospital beds.
Popularity of Science and Technology
There are 3,853 technicians of all levels, 27 and
713 have got advanced and middle level certificate
respectively.
By the end of 2003, 5 technological projects was
carried out. In1998, it become one of the technologically
advanced counties of Xinjiang Uyghur
Autonomous Region.
Environmental Protection and Green Belt
Drainage has generally live up to the national
standards, the air and water pollution is controlled
below 12%. The green belt is 88900
square meters, taking 3.3% of the city
proper. Since 1998, 10,851,900 trees have been planted and
65,000 mou Gobi and
wasteland are coated in green. In 1995, it was
granted "County of Desertification Control and
Farmland Deterioration Control" by the Committee of
UN Environmental Planning.
Social Security and Social Welfare
There are 8 geracomiums with 78 senior citizens and
1 orphanage with 50 orphans in it.

1,046 on-job workers and 633 retired workers, and
