Location
Located to the south of Xinjiang, the north of
Tianshan Mountain, the west rim of Tarim Basin and
the middle and upper reaches
of Zerepshan river and
Tiznap river. It borders Yarkent county and Kagilik county on its
north, and southeast.
Origin
Poskarn County has a history of 83 years.On November 10, 1921 (the 10th year of Republic
China), Poskarn County was established under the
approval of the central government
and was under the jurisdiction of Kashgar.
In 1942, Poskarn County was reallocated to the
charge of Yarkent
Prefecture. In 1949, after the peace liberation of Xinjiang, it
was under the jurisdiction of "Yarkent
" prefecture. In June 1956, as Yarkent
prefecture was abolished, it was under the charge of
Kashgar prefecture.
Administrative Division
It has jurisdiction over 10 countries, 2 towns, 4
farms, 138 administration villages and 9 residents'
committees.
Population and Territory
By the end of 2003, in its total area of 826 square
kilometers the population totaled 181,961, among
which the non-agriculture
population was 52,546, taking 20.14 percent of the
total.
Natural Characteristics
The land is 92.2%, water area 7.8%, arable area
361,100 mou.
The climate belongs to the warm continental
temperate zone, the annual mean temperature of the
air is 11.4℃, the amount of precipitation
is 53.9mm, frost-free period is 215 days.

cotton, melons and fruits. It is the commodity
cotton base, grain base and Chinese
date base. Mineral resources is also abundant, such as
petroleum, coal etc..
