Shule
County |
Location
Located to southwest of Xinjiang, the middle part of
east end Kashgar oasis of Tarim Basin, it borders
Peyziwat county and Yopurgha county to the
east, Shufu and Akhtu to
the west, Yengisar to the south, Shufu to the
northwest, Shufu and
kashgar city to the north across Kizil
river.
It has been long renowned for its name as "Golden
Corridor".
Origin
It has an enduring history of more than 2,130 years.
Shule, ancient state of Western Regions, as early as
the 3rd year of JianYuan reign (138 B.C.) when ZHANG
QIAN was sent to the Western Regions as a special
envoy, there was written record as such "Shule State
Ruled by King".
In Tang dynasty Shule town was established, together
with Qiuqi, Yutian etc., was known as "Four Towns of
Anxi" in Qing Dynasty, in the 2nd year of the Republic
of China (1913), it was altered to Shule County and
the name is
still used to date.
Administrative Division
It has jurisdiction over 3 villages, 12 townships, 7
farms, 223 administration village, and 11
communities.
Population and Territory
By the end of 2003, in its total area of 2394.8
square kilometers the population totaled 292,000,
among which the non-agriculture population was 4,9000, taking 16.78
percent of the total.
Natural characteristic
Located to the middle part of the aggraded flood
plain of Kizil
river, Gez river and Kusan river.
The area is flat and wide , having a rich amount of underground water and
534,600 mu arable land.
Its climate belongs to dry continental temperate
zone with clear-cut seasons, the annual mean
temperature of the air is 11.7 ℃s .The annual precipitation is 76mm and the frost-free
period is 150 days.
Agriculture products are abundant, major products
are apricot, peach, melon, pomegranate, livestock
and licorice, matrimony vine,
ma-huang, purple grass etc. It is one of the major
counties to produce cotton, melon and fruit in
Xinjiang .

The total output value was 655,680,000 Yuan RMB,
total industrial and agricultural production value
was 621,010,000 Yuan RMB in 2003,
, among which agriculture total production value was
150,910,000 Yuan RMB, industrial total production
value was 470,100,000 Yuan RMB
the net income of farmers is 1,450 Yuan RMB.
Industry
There are 20 industrial enterprises, basic
industrial system dominated by cement producing, fruit processing and
machinofacture has been set up,
5 and 4 enterprises with annual production value of
more than 10,000,000 Yuan RMB and 5,000,000 Yuan RMB
respectively.
Agriculture
By the end of 2003, there were arable land of
534,600 mou, 2.2 mou per capita, the grain yield
amounts to 135,000 tons, Quality cotton, grain, vegetable, fruits, and
livestock bases had been set up.

In 2003, the county completed the public finance
income 200,500,000 Yuan RMB.
The financing institution is ready and complete to
deal with come-and-go business from home and abroad.

Traffic is easy and quick, national highway 315 and
regional highway 214,310,311 run through
the county, every hundred square kilometers has
public road 0.41 kilometers.It is the must path and southwest door of Kashgar to
Hotan, Ali area in Tibet, and 8 counties of Kashgar
Prefecture.
There are 16,659 SPC telephone customers, 350
computer customers, all of which can enjoy optical
fibre communication; the mobile telephone customer attained 6300, every
hundred persons has 19 telephones.

City construction is ever increasing.
The city building area is 6.51 square meters, and
city area is 10.37 square meters.The living conditions of rural and urban citizens
has been greatly improved and the average urban
citizen has a housing area of 8.2 square meters and the average urban citizen

There are 286 schools with 165,284 students in
school.
The rate of school age children's entry into primary
school amounted to 99.5%, the consolidation rate is
99.7%;The enrollment rate of high school student is 89.2%,
the consolidation rate is 99.7%.475 students entered college in 2003, the admission
