Hunjirap Pass
Located to the Pamir Plateau of
northwest China, it is the only land
port to Pakistan and one of the most
important gateways to south Asia
sub-continent and Europe.
As a national category-A port, it was
designed to check and examine tour
groups and was formally opened to
Pakistan in 1985, and opened to
travelers from third countries in 1986,
expecting to receive 50,000 men/times
each year. The land port is 300
kilometers from Kashgar City and 1,787
kilometers from Urumqi, capital city of
Xinjiang.
Each year Hunjirap Pass receives
passengers 20,000 men/times, handles
cargo 20,000 tons, and check vehicles
5,000 car/times.。
Major goods exported from the port are
small articles of daily use, household
appliances, engineering equipment
pertaining to foreign contractors; and
the imported ones are Pakistan dried
fruits, such as almond, pine seeds,
etc., and ethnological special
commodities like rugs. |
